Return to Play

No play or vigorous activity, such as running, exercise, weight lifting, etc., should be done with signs and symptoms present and without a plan from your physician. Pennsylvania law requires that any minor who is suspected of having a concussion be removed from the game, practice or activity. If a properly trained M.D., D.O., Athletic Trainer or Physical Therapist is present to evaluate the athlete, this should be done on the sideline. A follow up by an M.D. or D.O. is needed for clearance to return to activity. Athletes who sustain a concussion are advised not to return to play the same day and should follow up with a trained M.D. or D.O. and a proper plan should be made for return to school and sports. OSS Health is a Certified ImPACT Clinic and works with families to develop a proper plan of care for healing and return to activity.
