Dr. Furman Receives PASSOR Legacy and Lectureship Award from AAPM&R

We would like to wish Dr. Furman congratulations for being awarded the 2018 PASSOR (Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports, and Occupational Rehabilitation) Award! Recipients of this award are mid-career (or later) doctors who have distinguished themselves in the field of musculoskeletal physiatry. Additionally, they have attained excellence in three of four areas: clinical care, education, service, or scholarship.

Dr FurmanDr. Furman’s Successes

Dr. Furman teaches spinal care as well as safe and efficient application of spinal technology. His specific interests are in rehabilitation and minimally invasive surgeries for spine and joint-related pain, using state-of-the-art techniques to diagnose and treat muscoskeletal issues. Those techniques consist of electrodiagnostic studies, discography, spinal cord stimulation surgeries, real-time fluoroscopy and musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging.

Previous Awards and Achievements

Dr. Furman has also been awarded the PASSOR Distinguished Clinician Award, the 2015 Musculoskeletal Medicine Outstanding Council Award, the 2006 Richard and Hinda Rosenthal Award, the Castle Connolly Top Doctors Award, Best Doctors Award, and Patients’ Choice Award.

Dr. Furman’s Background

Dr. Furman has been practicing medicine for 23 years, the last 15 of them with OSS Health.  He currently works at the OSS Orthopaedic Hospital and the York Orthopaedic office in Pennsylvania.  He is a board-certified physiatrist (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist) with ACGME subspecialization in Pain Medicine and Sports Medicine. 

In his personal time, Dr. Furman enjoys any outdoor activity, especially biking, skiing, or hiking. He also loves to travel with his wife Esther while exploring new cultures.

The PASSOR award will be given to Dr. Furman at the AAPM&R Annual Assembly, which convenes October 25-28, 2018. Dr. Furman will also be speaking at this assembly on Friday, October 26 from 10:35 a.m.-11:05 a.m. at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
