Pediatric Orthopaedics
Learn About Our Pediatric Orthopaedic Program:
Pediatric Orthopaedics is the specialized branch of orthopaedics that deals with children and adolescents who have problems affecting their bones and muscles. Caring for a growing child is different than caring for an adult. At OSS Health, we have fellowship-trained physicians who evaluate, diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric issues including:
-
Back pain
-
Joint pain
-
Broken bones
-
Scoliosis Spine injuries
-
Sports injuries
-
Strains and sprains
-
Club foot
OSS Health physicians work closely with parents and other healthcare providers to develop treatment plans. In addition to medical care, we provide physical therapy and rehabilitation services to help children gain the skills and strength needed to participate in everyday activities, including sports.
Treatment for pediatric orthopaedics is available at our Powder Mill Road office as well as at our Mechanicsburg and Hanover offices.
About Club Foot Disorder:
Club foot is a common disorder in which one or both of a newborn’s feet are turned inward and downward and can’t easily be moved into a normal position. This causes misalignment of the foot. If club foot is not treated in a timely manner, it may lead to difficulty in learning to walk properly.
At OSS Health, Dr. David Granger is trained to treat club foot disorder. Casting is one treatment option. It can be started on the day of birth or within several weeks after birth. The feet are put in a corrected position and then cast to ensure that the foot is held in this position. Casting normally takes place on a weekly basis until the feet are in normal position. Surgery is rare for this condition, but is sometimes used for children over the age of six months.
