Ambulatory Surgical Center
As part of our commitment to provide a full range of orthopaedic and surgical services, the OSS Health Ambulatory Surgery Center, or ASC, is an outpatient surgical facility for those procedures that do not require an overnight stay in a hospital. The ASC is located on OSS Health’s Powder Mill Campus main lobby in Suite 210. Surgical procedures are performed here in a safe and comfortable setting using state-of-the-art equipment and the newest surgical techniques.
The ASC features four operating rooms, a spacious pre-operative and recovery area, a large and comfortable waiting room and plenty of convenient parking. Our expert staff is committed to providing quality and professional care. We strive to make your experience at the ASC a positive one, providing you with the best surgical care available.
Preparing for Surgery
Your physician and our staff will discuss your procedure with you.
- 1Please ask all the questions that you need to feel comfortable with your procedure and what to expect
- 2Tell the staff what medications you are currently taking
- 3Complete the health history form accurately so our staff has all relevant information
- 4Please disclose relevant medical and health information to us, as well as any unexpected changes in your condition or health status, to help us provide the appropriate care
If you are scheduled for surgery, the ASC staff will contact you the day before your procedure with your arrival time and further instructions. If you have not received a call from them by 5 PM, please call us at (223) 848-3766.
If you will be receiving general anesthesia or sedation, you will not be permitted to drive yourself home after the procedure. You will need an escort who should be at least eighteen years of age and able to remain with you for the first 24 hours. The OSS ASC offers a comfortable waiting room and a cafe for the comfort of your escort. If you do not have an escort, we will be forced to postpone your procedure.
1. Pre-Operative Area
Upon your arrival at the ASC, our staff will strive to make your experience a positive one. Once you have checked in, a nurse will take you into our pre-operative area to take your vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature and pulse.
If receiving anesthesia, your anesthesiologist will talk with you to explain the process and answer any questions you have regarding your anesthesia. Finally, your OSS Health physician will visit to answer any final questions.
2. Operating Room
After the pre-operative procedures, you will be taken to a state-of-the-art operating room for your surgery. Our team will ensure that you are safe, comfortable and warm for your procedure as well as introducing you to the operating room team.
3. Post-operative Area
After your procedure, you will be taken to a spacious recovering area. As your recovery progresses, you and your escort will be given post-surgery discharge instructions to follow when you arrive at home. Our staff will contact you within 24 hrs. after your procedure to follow up on your care and check on your progress.
