Dr. Amit Patel
Amit R. Patel, MD is board-certified by both the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Board of Spine Surgeons. Dr. Patel treats general orthopaedic issues including joint replacement and extremity trauma, but he has special expertise and fellowship training in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of the spine. His primary interests are treating complex spinal deformity, degenerative spinal conditions, back and neck pain, and pediatric and adult spinal trauma. Dr. Patel performs minimally invasive spine surgeries as well as surgical second opinions.
Dr. Patel’s goal is to get patients back to doing the activities they enjoy. In his leisure time, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, sports and the outdoors.

Dr. Patel is an incredible surgeon who took extensive time with both myself and my parents to discuss my condition and need for surgical treatment. He was thorough and willing to work with Dr. Steinmetz in pain management to exhaust all conservative measures before opting for an L4-L5 spinal fusion on an otherwise healthy 22-year-old female. I am the third youngest patient he has operated on and had the lateral spinal fusion technique due to my tethered cord release surgery from childhood. I cannot thank this man, his magnificent team (especially his physician's assistant, Ashley), and the care I received from OSS during and post-surgery.My life has dramatically changed from this surgery-no cane, no pain, and a gain of 3 inches to my height attributed to my straightened posture to compensate for a year and a half of misery. If there is one thing I can leave anyone with as you read these reviews, it is that my parents wanted me to be in the best hands as someone considered "too young" ...
