Dr. George Margetas
George P. Margetas, DO is a native of York and enjoys working in the community where he was raised. Dr. Margetas treats all general orthopaedic problems with special interest and training in joint replacements of the hip and knee. Dr. Margetas uses the most advanced technologies and minimally invasive approaches to return his patients back to the activities they enjoy. He places great importance on spending time with his patients to help them understand their orthopaedic condition as well as the treatment options.
Dr. Margetas also treats many general orthopaedic conditions, including minor trauma, sports injuries and upper extremity issues. In his leisure time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His interests are travel, exercise, sports and hunting.

I had a total left knee replacement in March 2023. For 4 years prior to that time I received conservative care from Dr. Margetas. At every step of the journey he has been attentive, thorough,compassionate and available . One couldn’t ask for a better doctor.

Dr. Margetas greeted us both as soon as he came in, had already reviewed my file & then explained the difference between getting X-rays at OSS vs. at a hospital. He sent me for X-rays down the hall and reviewed them with us. Afterwards, he actually examined the condition of my knees and broached the subject of replacement without me having to ask him, which is always on my mind. When discussing treatment he was honest about the results I may/may not get from each and remained optimistic that I could be helped. He was friendly, open to discussion and answered all of my questions, then prepared me for the next treatment step and said goodbye. This visit was exactly what I want from a doctor.
