Dr. James Klunk
James W. Klunk, DO is an orthopaedic spine surgeon with special expertise in adult spinal degeneration and deformity. Dr. Klunk uses the most advanced technologies in robotics and navigation, motion preservation, and minimally invasive techniques to return you to a healthy, active lifestyle.
Dr. Klunk works closely with the OSS Health Pain Management physicians and physical therapists to develop a plan of care specific to each patient’s medical condition. His goal is to get patients back to a healthy, active lifestyle. In his leisure time, Dr. Klunk enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, working on cars and hunting.

Dr Klunk and his staff are great. Dr Klunk listened to my symptoms and helped me to decide on a plan to alleviate my back pain. I’ve been seeing him for a couple months and we are gradually getting me out of a lot of pain.

My appointment a year after an amazing result from surgery was scheduled with Dr. Klunk, but I saw the physician’s assistant instead who is very knowledgeable and had reviewed my case with the doc. She suggested a plan for injections which sounded reasonable. However, five days later Dr. Klunk called me to revise the plan. I was beyond grateful for that twenty minute call as he listened, looked at my MRI, clarified, and revised the plan to provide better results. However, I can’t help wondering if that could have been avoided if I was able to see him right away on my in person appointment day. I regard Dr. Klunk highly. My initial surgery resulted in life changing relief!! So, he is still the best in my opinion, AKA my hero! However, this experience taught me that I will advocate for talking with him during appointments. I always respected the physician assistant role, but I’m hesitant now.
