Dr. Usman Zahir
Dr. Usman Zahir is a orthopaedic spine surgeon with specialized training in endoscopic spine surgery. As an instructor, he continues to teach and train other surgeons from around the country on the use of endoscopic techniques in the spine. Dr. Zahir’s interest in endoscopics began out of a desire to find less invasive ways of treating common spinal problems. Endoscopic spine surgery is the least invasive surgical treatment for spinal stenosis and disc herniations.
During his orthopedic residency and spine fellowship training at the University of Maryland Medical Center/R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Zahir received training in a wide variety of spinal conditions. He then served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital for five years before joining HCA Virginia Physicians. Since 2018, much of Dr. Zahir’s practice has focused on endoscopic spine surgery.
As a regional expert on endoscopics, Dr. Zahir is often asked to provide second opinions for patients undergoing traditional spinal surgery. Dr. Zahir’s practice philosophy centers on patient education. He takes pride in promoting a patient centered approach in treatment.
During his free time, Dr. Zahir enjoys traveling with his wife.

I would definitely recommend Dr. Zahir to anyone looking for an orthopedic spine surgeon. Dr. Zaire is very pleasant, easy to talk to, explains everything thoroughly and in a way I can understand. He gives least invasive options before surgical options. He is also flexible enough to do what you are most comfortable with while still recommending further options if needed.

Dr. Zahir is an amazing doctor. He was my spine doctor in Virginia and when he moved to Pennsylvania I followed him there. He fixed a new flare up of a herniated discs in L4 and L5. He does these procedures in a minimally invasive manner where if you are younger patient, like me being 33, you aren’t worried about something too invasive. He is always helpful, caring, respectful, knowledgeable, and skilled true doctor who cares deeply about his patients through empathy. I’m lucky to have found him and I think I’m on a path to getting healthy against and getting rid of my back pain. Thank you. Dr. Zahir is the best doctor I have ever interacted with and if you need a good orthopedic surgeon, he is it! He can do telehealth or in-person visits and he is very flexible to accommodate his patients.
