Flat Feet

What are Flat Feet?

The arch of the foot consists of the tarsal bones, metatarsal bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. The arch of the foot helps support the weight of the body when standing, walking and running. Flat Feet are caused by nondevelopment of the arch during childhood or wear and tear and subsequent weakening of the arch. People with Flat Feet may or may not have problems.

If you have Flat Feet the common symptoms can include:

  • Pain in the arch or heel area
  • Tenderness
  • Difficulty bearing weight, walking or running
  • Swelling

If you are experiencing symptoms of Flat Feet, it is best to make an appointment with one of the Board Certified Foot and Ankle Specialists at OSS Health as soon as possible. Delaying treatment may cause the symptoms to become worse. At OSS Health, our Board Certified Foot and Ankle Specialists have helped thousands of patients with Flat Feet live active and healthy lives using the latest non-surgical and surgical procedures.
