Dr. Michael Furman
Michael Furman, MS, MD is a board-certified physiatrist (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist) with ACGME subspecialization in Pain Medicine and in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Furman has been a director and instructor at numerous spinal procedure courses and workshops. He is also recognized as a thought leader and educator in spine care and has won numerous awards for his teaching and clinical care including the AAPM&R Musculoskeletal Council Service Award, PASSOR Distinguished Clinician Award, the Rosenthal Award, Castle Connolly Top Doctors Award, Best Doctors Award and Patients’ Choice Award.
Dr Furman’s passion is teaching spinal care as well as safe and efficient application of spinal technology. He has special interest in rehabilitation and minimally invasive interventions for spine and joint-related pain using state-of-the-art techniques to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal problems. These techniques include electrodiagnostic studies, discography, spinal cord stimulation surgeries, real-time fluoroscopy and musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging.
He has authored numerous original research articles and book chapters and is writing a book entitled ATLAS OF IMAGE-GUIDED SPINAL PROCEDURES.

I was referred to Dr. Furman by my Doctor Corey Caruthers for the treatment of inflammation in my right rotator cuff and bicep. I was very apprehensive to get needles in these areas because of my wife's bad experience a few years ago in a non OSS medical facility The doctor hurt her so badly she cried and then to make things worst he called her a baby. Well fortunately that was not my experience with Dr. Furman. From the moment he introduced himself to me until the time I left things were fantastic. Dr. Furman made me feel relaxed with his professional and kind demeanor. He took the time to explain to me everything that I was going to experience and made sure I was ok during the entire procedure. in fact I got to know how good he is because he was training Dr. Patel that day and she under his supervision and careful guidance actually performed the procedure and didn't even cause me any pain. Even the office assistant was terrific. Thank you OSS for taking care of my medical health!
