Dr. Michael Furman
Michael Furman, MS, MD is a board-certified physiatrist (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist) with ACGME subspecialization in Pain Medicine and in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Furman has been a director and instructor at numerous spinal procedure courses and workshops. He is also recognized as a thought leader and educator in spine care and has won numerous awards for his teaching and clinical care including the AAPM&R Musculoskeletal Council Service Award, PASSOR Distinguished Clinician Award, the Rosenthal Award, Castle Connolly Top Doctors Award, Best Doctors Award and Patients’ Choice Award.
Dr Furman’s passion is teaching spinal care as well as safe and efficient application of spinal technology. He has special interest in rehabilitation and minimally invasive interventions for spine and joint-related pain using state-of-the-art techniques to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal problems. These techniques include electrodiagnostic studies, discography, spinal cord stimulation surgeries, real-time fluoroscopy and musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging.
He has authored numerous original research articles and book chapters and is writing a book entitled ATLAS OF IMAGE-GUIDED SPINAL PROCEDURES.

I can't say enough about how positive my experience has been with Dr. Furhman at OSS. He has been treating me for a chronic spine condition and now knee pain for several years. With his help, I have regained a quality of life that had been lost and without the use of any controlled substances which I wanted to avoid. His calming, attentive manner is so reassuring when you are having a new procedure. He is very careful that you feel as little pain as possible and it has never been more than I would expect. I have heard from friends how painful their knee procedures have been. I was shocked that my first knee procedure was pain free which has been a blessing. He has enabled me to delay surgeries that I know may be necessary someday but not right now. He is sought after by many physicians to share his techniques because he is just that good! He is a gem and we are lucky to have his expertise and experience in this area.
