Dr. Michael Furman
Michael Furman, MD, MS is a board-certified physiatrist (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist) with ACGME subspecialization in Pain Medicine and in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Furman has been a director and instructor at numerous spinal procedure courses and workshops. He is also recognized as a thought leader and educator in spine care and has won numerous awards for his teaching, research, and clinical care including the IPSIS Lifetime Achievement award, IPSIS Best Clinical Abstract Award, AAPM&R Musculoskeletal Council Service Award, PASSOR Distinguished Clinician Award, the Rosenthal Foundation Lectureship Award, Castle Connolly Top Doctors Award, Best Doctors Award and Patients’ Choice Award.
Dr Furman’s passion is teaching spinal care as well as safe and efficient application of spinal technology. He has special interest in rehabilitation and minimally invasive interventions for spine and joint-related pain using state-of-the-art techniques to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal problems. These techniques include electrodiagnostic studies, discography, real-time fluoroscopy and musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging.
He has authored numerous original research articles and book chapters and is writing the third edition of his internationally recognized book entitled ATLAS OF IMAGE-GUIDED SPINAL PROCEDURES.

Dr. Furman has taken care of me several times in different areas of pain management, and I have always found him to be very professional. However, while he is very professional, he is also very caring for you as a person, talks over your diagnosis, suggested treatment, and prognosis with you, asks if you have any questions or concerns, and considers your opinion in his final treatment plan. He is a great asset to the staff of OSS and I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking pain management care within the area of his expertise!!

He is patient and kind. Explains what is going to happen and asks if you have questions. Dr Furman is also calm and composed when directing assistant or person who is learning.
