In 2016, I finally broke down and made an appointment at OSS to have my hand and wrist pain evaluated. Dr. Curran recommended Carpal Tunnel Release surgery, one hand at a time. After the first surgery on my right hand/wrist, I did not experience much pain, so I was not concerned to have the left hand done, which was about two week's after the first. In 2018, I developed intense hand pain which I assumed was arthritis, but I made an appointment with Dr. Curran to be safe and he xrayed both hands and discovered my thumb joints were bone-on-bone, which surprised him, as he told me he'd never seen this in someone my age. He referred me to Dr. Lin to receive corticosteroid injections, which gave me some relief, but had to get them every three to four months. Now, my thumb pain has greatly increased and my PCP referred me to Dr. Elliot who told me to continue with the injections because they don't like to perform surgery for someone my age unless absolutely necessary. I asked the receptionist to schedule the injections with Dr. Lin, and the first available is the second week of August!!! I don't think he quite understood how much pain I'm in, but doctor knows best, right?I highly recommend Dr. Curran for any orthopedic treatments and/or surgery!!
